Cornwall Pottery Terms & Conditions

1. About Us

These Terms & Conditions apply to all pottery sessions provided by Astrid Whitton trading as Cornwall Pottery. By booking a session, you agree to these terms.

2. Booking & Payment

All sessions must be booked in advance through our website, email, or phone. Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed. We reserve the right to refuse a booking at our discretion.

3. Cancellation & Refunds

If for any reason you need to cancel your pottery course please contact us through the website contact page. Please do not consider your booking cancelled until you have received a confirmation reply from us.

Refunds:

More than 14 days notice: Full refund or free reschedule.

7 - 14 days notice: 50% refund, or free reschedule.

Less than 7 days notice: No refund, but we will try to offer a reschedule if possible.

No-shows: No refund or reschedule.

If we must cancel a session (e.g. illness, equipment failure), you will receive a full refund or the option to rebook.

4. Arrival & Late Attendance

Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your session. If you arrive late, we will do our best to accommodate you, but your session may be shortened. If you are more than 20 minutes late, we may treat this as a no‑show.

5. Safety & Conduct

Pottery involves tools, equipment, and materials that must be used safely. You agree to follow all instructions given by staff. We reserve the right to remove any participant whose behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate. No refund will be given in such cases. Children under 18 years (minimum age 11) must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

6. Clothing & Personal Items

Pottery can be messy. We recommend wearing old clothes and bringing an apron. We are not responsible for damage to clothing, jewellery, phones, or personal items. Long hair must be tied back when using the wheel.

7. Creating & Firing Your Work

Clay pieces created during pottery sessions are not guaranteed to survive drying or firing. Cracks, warping, and breakage can occur naturally. Where a course includes the firing of your work it will need to be within the following guidelines: size 23cm x 23cm x 23cm, and approximate weight 400g. We will fire your work using our standard glazes and you will be contacted when your piece is ready for collection. We hold finished pieces for 8 weeks after notification. After this time, uncollected items may be recycled or disposed of. We cannot post or courier finished pieces unless previously agreed, and additional charges apply.

8. Damage to Equipment

You may be liable for repair or replacement costs if equipment is damaged due to misuse or failure to follow instructions.

9. Health Considerations

Please inform us of any relevant medical conditions (e.g., mobility issues, allergies, epilepsy). If you are pregnant, you may participate, but please avoid heavy lifting. If you feel unwell during the session, please tell a member of staff immediately.

10. Liability

Although we take every care to ensure accuracy, we make no warranties as to the accuracy of the information we place on our web pages. The extent of our liability for any breach of these terms and conditions shall be limited to the value of the product or experience ordered by you in the relevant transaction.

We take all reasonable steps to provide a safe environment, however, participation is at your own risk. We are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages except where caused by our negligence. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

11. Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Vouchers are non‑refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Lost vouchers cannot be replaced.

12. Photography & Media

You are welcome to take photos of your own work. Please ask permission before photographing other participants. We may take photos for marketing purposes; we will always ask your consent first.

13. Data Protection

We only collect information necessary for booking and communication. Your data will never be sold or shared with third parties. You may request deletion of your data at any time. We comply with UK GDPR requirements.
